7/25/11 - Surgery Day..

This is a little late since the blog before already told you the good news - but there is a purpose for this one...my nerves were shot - I had had enough - I was ready for surgery and to be home recovering! And I am now so I am truly happy!! But that day - Monday July 25th......
Well, the day before my mom came in - we went to my friends wedding - Congrats Barb and Ken - love you both!! Visited my Aunt Margie and Connie, picked up my kids and came home to wake Greg. Greg and Anthony came up so we could all go to dinner, all in all a nice day!!
Monday - 5:30 alarm goes off and Greg and I are up, showered and off to Nyack for the big surgery!!
I have to say to my pleasant surprise, everything went as planned, I had to have a wire guide placed in my breast (at 9:30) so the surgeon knew where to go since the chemo had shrunk the lump so much, even I couldn't find it and then surgery was set for 11:30. I guess by they time I was in the OR it was 12:00 but close enough and I should have been done by 2:00 but remember back a few blogs ago, in the lymph nodes, according to the sonogram tech, there was something "wrapped around" something?? Well, apparently that was still the case and the surgeon, who is wonderful, took her time and took what she needed out of the mess that was in my armpit - so it took another 1/2 hour. All is good and I'm home now!!

There are so many of you who I need to thank, all of you on facebook with your encouraging comments, well wishes and beautiful prayers. I feel truly blessed to have you all out there - we may not speak all the time but you know who you are and I thank you!! There are also the friends, who in the weeks before surgery took me out, kept my mind off of what was to come and made those weeks much easier to deal with, Nancy, Lori, Marzia, Karen and Mary - to name a few...THANK YOU!!
My husband Greg, my mom and my sister - without you - I would be a mess!!!!! One of my main concerns through this all, was my kids, all three of you have made sure I knew they would be taken care of while I was healing!!! THANK YOU- THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!!!
I had a couple visitors at the hospital - my mother in law, Irene - always there to put a smile on my face and a prayer in my heart!! I cannot say enough, how touched I was to see this smiling face in the recovery room but there she was.
And then, a face I haven't seen for years, and at one point thought I probably never would again................... Adrianna. Its always nice to know I have friends out there that care, really care and are truly there for me -not just in times like this but also, on a regular day when a friend is the best gift a person could ask for!!
So, thank you all for being there when I truly needed to know there were people there and not just say you'll be there but be there!!!
Oh, there are still a few I need to thank and believe me I will,  but these few are too special not to mention!! There is one - I know she would be upset if I DID mention her so I won't - just know how much you are appreciated!!!!
And those of you who have offered help and sent your phone numbers - you are not out of the woods yet - I still have your numbers, will call and I thank you even before any favors are asked cuz that in itself says a lot!!!
