Today was a fun filled day with my kids and a couple of their friends! We went to a little water park n Fishkill, NY called Splash Down. I honestly thought I would not be having a good time due to the way I have felt the past week or so, I have to say - I had a great time!! The kids were great, the sun was out, the water was perfect - it really was just a great day. This followed by a sleep over with the girls, Robert went to his friends, God forbid he's stuck in a tiny apartment with 2 extra girls!! But needless to say - it was fun for all!!
I know this will sound ridiculous and totally off the wall, but I have to say....Thank you - to this awful disease I carry with me! If it weren't for you, I would not be having the summer off and would not be able to spend some quality time with my kids and husband!! I haven't had a summer off since I graduated High School and that was quite some time ago!! So, if I may say, we should try to find some good in all sorts of situations, this is my good out of this crap I have to go through! I am by no means happy about having cancer but I know that I will come out of this a winner! And being that I can spend time with my family that I normally wouldn't be able to do, I guess in a weird sort of way - I'm grateful. So there cancer - take that!!
As I try to teach my children, not everything is easy, not everything we want should or will be handed over to us and everything happens for a reason, try to find some good in even the worst experiences you encounter.
I try to be a good example of take what you are given, make the best of it and don't whine over what you can't have - be grateful for things you get and don''t always look for more. This is one of those cases where I am thankful for the things i have gotten and learned from this awful experience.
