Mothers Day and more...

Well, thankfully, there hasn't been too much to write about. I have a doctor appt. next week - just for a check up. I am still swollen but not too bad. I have been feeling pretty good and have no real complaints!

We got to see Gregs family last weekend to say goodbye to my mother in law who passed away in January. She is finally at rest and I think it was a nice time had by all, I hope she was looking down having a chuckle or two at all our conversations and situations. And believe me, there were plenty of conversations and laughs all around for her to enjoy!!

Yesterday was Mothers Day - our first without Irene! It went ok, Greg and I took Robert and Sammy to the cemetery to visit Irene - I was able to have a moment to myself and bawl my face off and the rest of the day seemed good.

We took a nice ride and did some shopping - well, "window" type shopping but it was great!! We went home - had some lunch and relaxed for a bit, then,  Robert, Sammy and I went on a hike - got a little lost but obviously, found our way back home!! We went over to a marked path off of Route 6 in Harriman - followed the Red markers down to a beautiful lake, saw some gross millipede's that had a bazillion legs - took some pictures and tried to make our own path on the way back. That did not work so well, we ended up figuring it would be best if we just went straight up the mountain, towards the highway and tried to find a trail at the top!! That was a wonderful idea until about 1/4 way up when we realized it was not just a hill, it was a freakin mountain!!! It was too late to turn back and find the real trail so we kept going!! I was rather impressed with my kids and myself for that matter!! I thought for sure they would have to take my phone, find a patch where they might get a signal and call 911 for their poor mother who just had her beat red face pop off her shoulders!!! I'm telling you - I could feel my face throb with every step I took - but let me tell you - it was great!!
The weather was perfect- the air was clear and being outside like that was just amazing!! This time last year I was in the midst of chemo and probably feeling like a beaten, run down old women!! Not this year!!! This 40 year old mom got herself up and out and hiked up and down a big ol' mountain with her kids - on Mothers Day!! I feel great and I plan on keeping it that way - we hope to get a hike in a few times a month - weather permitting and get to know the mountains that we live so closely to and never took advantage of before!!!

Keep smiling - theres a million reason to!!!!!
